Unisys NOAAPort Receiver Changes for SBN Expansion

The NWS has issued a notice to expand the current 30Mbps NOAAPort SBN service to 60+ Mbps by October 1, 2014. Details of this service expansion can be found on the NWS NOAAPort page at: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/noaaport/html/noaaport_expansion.shtml

Unisys has completed testing on the current Unisys NOAAPort and NOAAPort Gateway systems to accommodate this expanded service, as well as ingest of the Soumi-NPP satellite channel. Unisys NOAAPort Gateway users receiving the Unisys C-Band channel should already be upgraded to NOAAPort Version 9.0.

In order to receive and process the expanded NOAAPort SBN service, users will be required to update configuration settings on the Novra S-300 satellite receivers. These changes are minimal, and they do not require a firmware upgrade. Users can perform the configuration changes on CMCS using a GUI or the command line. **Detailed instructions will be provided in a later message** All changes need to be made by September 30, 2014.

NOAA/NWS updated messages on the NOAAPort SBN expansion can be found at: http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=CRH&product=ADM&issuedby=NCF
