Unisys NOAAPORT Gateway: Built for Reliability

Weather data and environmental products are considered essential information for customers to help carry out their mission to protect property and save lives. However, many users rely upon a single entry point for this information. In the event of a communications failure or a lost signal, critical weather information may be missed.

Unisys designed the NOAAPORT Gateway to provide a reliable flow of weather information by outfitting the system with separate, redundant data feeds. Users can obtain the NOAAPORT Government broadcast as well as products from the Unisys 5th NOAAPORT channel via satellite downlink, with an option for landline access to the Unisys WeatherMAX data dissemination servers. In the event of a failure of the primary communication links, the Unisys NOAAPORT Gateway will automatically fail over to the backup feed, without the need for manual switching.

Government agencies such as the National Weather Service (NWS) National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) rely on Unisys to provide redundant data feeds in order to ensure critical weather data are reaching the forecasters that need the data, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Several large companies that specialize in weather product services also rely on the Unisys NOAAPORT Gateway solution for the very same reason.
